GM Ignition Switches Recall Claims
Injured in an Accident Caused by an Ignition Switch Problem?
In 2006 a driver was killed in California while riding in a Chevrolet Cobalt which had been rented from Vanguard Car Rental USA Inc. The car had crashed without the airbag deploying which led to an inquest by Enterprise Holdings Inc. along with other car rental businesses who had experienced similar problems with Cobalts.
If you have been injured in a similar type of accident that you believe was caused by an ignition switch issue or other auto defect, be sure to seek legal counsel. You may be able to pursue a claim for your pain and suffering. Kolker Law Firm provides counsel for individuals seeking compensation for their personal injuries.
Investigations Reveal Manufacturer Liability
Recent investigations led to the uncovering of abnormal crashes that were all linked to faulty ignition switches. Surprisingly, car rental companies, consumers, car reviewers, and GM's own dealers and manufacturers have been complaining about the issue to the auto maker since 2005. Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, files were obtained which highlighted correspondences between GM and the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that detailed 30 crashes in which airbags were not deployed, resulting in 37 deaths.
As of June, 2014, GM has recalled over 16 million cars in North America for repairs connected to the ignition switches.
